Convenient and Affordable Ways to Save Space in Your College Dorm

Are you currently living on campus at the college you are attending? If so, you may have a small room that you have to share with another person. Because you are tight on space, it is important to make the most of the exact amount of space you do have. Instead of feeling like you are living in a room full of clutter, there are many simple and affordable ways to avoid clutter while storing your belongings away neatly.

Keep Items in Order While Using a Shower Caddy and Adhesive Wall Hooks

Although a shower caddy is commonly found in the bathroom, you can use one or more of them in your dorm room to hold certain items, such as curling irons, flat irons, pens, markers and even post-it notes. Once you have filled the caddy with different items, simply apply an adhesive wall hook to the wall and then hang the caddy right on the hook. The great thing about adhesive wall hooks is that you can always take them off and move them around the room if you decide to redecorate at some point.

Use Stackable Storage Bins for Some Belongings

Stackable storage bins provide enough space for all kinds of belongings. You can put some of your non-perishable foods in one bin, such as boxes of macaroni and cheese, cans of soup, and fruit snacks. These items would fit perfectly in a storage bin that you could then stack right on top of another storage bin loaded with other items, such as hair products. You could easily fit hairspray, gel, conditioner, shampoo, and other assorted containers into a storage bin. Because these bins are stackable, they will help you save space while still allowing you to store things.

Place Plastic Storage Chests Under Your Bed

If you have a decent amount of space underneath the bed in your dorm room, consider putting one or more plastic storage chests underneath it. You should have the drawers facing the outside of the room so that you can easily get into them without having to pull the entire chest out from underneath the bed. Instead of using a dresser and taking up even more space in the room, you can simply store your clothes and other belongings inside of the storage-chest drawers and keep them out of the way by leaving the chests under your bed.

You may be limited to the amount of space you have in your dorm room, but there are ways to work with that available space. A shower caddy, storage bins, and storage chests can all come in handy in just about any dorm room.
